The explanation of each stage is as follows:AbsorptionWe immerse ourselves in the brief, the issues, the brand, the products, the DOP culture, the objectives, the data on target audience and buying patterns, and every other conceivable aspect that could have an influence on a campaign, using primary and secondary research where appropriate. We also try the service or buy the product to test the customer / member experience firsthand, where possible.ExplosionThis is where we turn all of the information that we have gathered into ideas. We explore every angle, discounting nothing. We listen to everyone’s view and think through the whole range of formats, media, offers and concepts available. It is important to use thinking tools to help stimulate ideas, as one of the best ways to have a great idea is to have lots of ideas!ConsolidationWe take the ideas and give them a reality check against the factors which are critical to the success of the idea - this could be budget, time, brand fit, speed to market, etc. The ideas that are filtered out must be creative, practical and fit for purpose. ActionHere we outline how we will put the great ideas into action, using realistic planning and scheduling that will move things along. It is, essentially, a process of turning concept into reality.CapitalisationOnce campaigns have aired, it is time to assess our success. Be it profit, new customers or other measures, we have to ask if our work achieved its objectives so that we can build for the future. Capturing performance data is essential and this data can feed back into the Absorption stage for the next campaign.By following this model we can be sure that we will have fully maximised the potential of the campaign and can use the outputs to refine and inform future campaigns.
