How we will design and build the website

We follow a very sound process, which has proven successful for us over the years across multiple projects and clients.

In a nutshell, it looks like this: we always start with Discovery to learn all about the problem at end and the users involved; this is followed by a Design phase where we visualise our solution; once this is signed off by yourselves, the development team starts to Build the product; finally after a through round of quality assurance Testing, we Launch it and ensure you have everything you need in a final handover, with the option for us to provide Ongoing Support if required.

You'll have access to our project management tools to track progress, and you're welcome to join our stand-up meetings where we discuss ongoing work and resolve any blockers.

    Testing & Quality

    Pre-launch Organisation
Before launch, we work through a technical checklist covering functionality, performance, and security. We provide practical training sessions for your team and create documentation including:

    Technical setup guides
    - System architecture overview
    - Third-party tool access
    - Product usage documentation

    Post-Launch Support
Once live, we verify all functions are working as intended and monitor for any performance issues. You receive full ownership of your product, including source code and all associated documentation. We can provide ongoing support or help transition to your internal team.

  • Description
We follow a very sound process for UX and UI phases, which has proven successful for us over the years across multiple projects and clients.

    Discovery Phase
We start by understanding your product's full scope through structured research and analysis. Our discovery process builds a clear foundation for design and development decisions. From the first day, we establish clear working practices and communication channels. When beneficial, we create a co-design group of your users who provide regular feedback throughout the project, ensuring we're building something that truly serves your community's needs.

    Content Analysis
We examine your existing content structure, looking at how information is organised and accessed. This deep dive into your content helps identify what works well and where improvements can make the biggest impact. Understanding how users interact with your content shapes our approach to information architecture and user experience.

    User Experience Research
Our UX research begins by defining the different types of users and their specific needs. We map current user journeys to understand how people interact with your product, while analysing your goals and success metrics. This research phase includes reviewing your brand identity and visual preferences, ensuring our design decisions align with your established brand while meeting accessibility requirements.

    Design Development
During the design phase, we transform our research insights into practical solutions. We create comprehensive technical documentation and develop detailed site maps that outline content hierarchies. This groundwork leads to the creation of wireframes and interactive prototypes, which we refine through user testing sessions. Throughout this process, we maintain a consistent design system that ensures coherence across all aspects of your product.

    Project Planning
We document all requirements in detail, with clear acceptance criteria for each feature. Our approach to time estimation and scope refinement ensures realistic delivery plans. Regular reflection points throughout both discovery and design allow us to adjust our approach based on findings and feedback.

Background I am the Director of Better Planet Education. Our organisation inspires young people to look after our world. Opportunity: - Rebrand the Young People Trust for the Environment to Better Planet Education - Create a new logo, new brand guidelines and assets, including animations - Perform an SEO content audit of the existing website - Ensure a smooth SEO transition from the old to the new domain to limit impact on organic traffic - Develop a new website for Better Planet Education that follows the new brand, and SEO recommendations, using Webflow as its CMS Why did you select Yalla over others? - High ratings - Pricing fit our budget - Great culture fit - Good value for cost - Company values aligned How many teammates from Yalla were assigned to this project? 6-10 Employees Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables. Yalla worked with us to create a new brand for Better Planet Education. Then they created a new website, based around the brand guidelines they had developed. The new site was based on our existing (and quite large) site, but with several modifications and improvements. Yalla also worked to ensure that SEO was impacted as minimally as possible, which was especially important as we were changing the charity's name - and therefore our domain name - when the new site was launched. Results and feedback The website is easy to navigate. We are now able to keep track of how many primary and secondary school students are visiting the site, how many teachers and how many members of the public. - The site has strong visual appeal and is receiving a lot of traffic. - Content is easy to find - Maintain high levels of organic traffic - Ensure the widest audience possible can use the platform by following AAA accessibility standards - Find out more about actual visitors' demographics Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs? The team from Yalla were absolutely excellent! We were very impressed with the standard of everything they delivered. They were very easy to talk to and took the time to understand our needs really well before embarking upon the project. They were also very responsive post-delivery, tidying up any issues really quickly. Timing for the project was pretty much spot on. What was your primary form of communication with Yalla? Virtual Meeting What did you find most impressive or unique about this company? I liked their ethos. They are a co-operative of experts, based across Europe and in Gaza. Online meetings made it possible to easily get the team together for meetings, regardless of the fact that they were often separated by thousands of miles. They really went the extra mile to ensure we got the end results we were looking for. Are there any areas for improvement or something Yalla could have done differently? To be honest, I don't think there's anything that could have been done any better. They were brilliant to work with throughout the process.

THE REVIEW "We thoroughly enjoyed working with Yalla and appreciated their efficiency and effectiveness throughout the project." FEEDBACK SUMMARY The client was delighted with the tool, which is professional, user-friendly, and engaging. Yalla led regular meetings, communicated effectively through Notion, Microsoft Loop, and emails, and was open to questions. Their creativity, attention to detail, and ability to find solutions stood out. BACKGROUND Please describe your company and position. I am the Research Assistant of University of Manchester Describe what your company does in a single sentence. The company is a public research institution recognised for its wide range of courses, exceptional teaching and facilities. OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE What specific goals or objectives did you hire Yalla to accomplish? To create an effective online tool to measure volunteers' personal and professional development. SOLUTION How did you find Yalla? Referral Why did you select Yalla over others? - Referred to me - Company values aligned Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables. The project aimed to develop an online tool for organisations to track their volunteers' personal and professional growth. We wanted the tool to benefit both the organisation and its volunteers. It needed to incorporate the pre-developed MOVE iT questionnaire, the validated Utrecht Work Engagement Survey, and the life satisfaction survey. We envisioned the tool generating customisable visual reports that could serve as a future reference for organisations and volunteers. One of the key features we wanted to incorporate was allowing users to compare their results with other organisations while maintaining data anonymity. RESULTS & FEEDBACK What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success? To develop an effective online tool that the NHS can distribute to organisations to measure the personal and professional growth of volunteers. Key features we wanted from the tool: - create reports - store data - all participant's data remain anonymous - compare data. Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs? We appreciated how informative and approachable Yalla was throughout the entire process. They were very organised, holding regular, engaging meetings during the development process. In these meetings, they guided us through each stage of development, showing us landscapes, data mapping, and wireframes. It felt like we were part of the whole process, with the opportunity to give input at any stage. Yalla was approachable throughout these meetings, always checking if we were satisfied and addressing any concerns we had. Working closely with Erica, Joe, and Simon was a very positive experience, they were always happy to help and offered great ideas that have now enhanced the tool with great features. It was great learning how to use the new platforms that Yalla introduced for easy communication and updates through Notion and Loop. Having never used these platforms before Yalla always ensured their Notion was user-friendly, visually appealing, and easy to follow. We particularly appreciated the final playbook that Yalla created for us on Notion. Having all the information about how the tool works, who can access which areas, and links to videos in one place will be extremely beneficial. This will help us in the future to educate organisations about the tool. We are delighted with the final online tool that has been developed. Yalla has optimised its functionality and enhanced important features like customisable reports and comparisons across data. The online tool is professional, user-friendly, and engaging and we believe, once launched to a wider population, that both organisations and volunteers will benefit from using it. Due to the Gaza-Israel conflict, later areas of the project were delayed. However, one of the reasons we liked Yalla before our collaboration was their supportive approach to staff development through capacity building. Therefore, we completely understood the situation and the NHS granted the project a no-cost extension. What was your primary form of communication with Yalla? Virtual Meeting What did you find most impressive or unique about this company? Yalla impressed us throughout the project with their organisation, creativity, and communication skills. They scheduled regular meetings to keep us updated on their progress and the tool's development. They created an environment where we felt comfortable asking questions or sharing ideas. Their creativity was excellent and they also involved our creativity as well. We appreciated how they asked insightful questions about the tool, covering aspects we hadn't even considered. The team was great at responding to emails and didn't take long to reply to comments on Notion. Having this great communication made us feel at ease with the development of the tool. We believe Yalla did a great job with their attention to detail. This included gathering suitable images, ensuring the tool is user-friendly on both phones and laptops, and incorporating cookies to store data so participants could return to complete unfinished surveys. A crucial feature to incorporate was preserving the anonymity of volunteer data from other users and organisations. Yalla devised a method to achieve this using unique pins and usernames, enabling volunteers to avoid sharing their email addresses. Are there any areas for improvement or something Yalla could have done differently? No, we thoroughly enjoyed working with Yalla and appreciated their efficiency and effectiveness throughout the project. We are pleased with the final product and thank everyone on the team who contributed to it.
