Tokyo Director & Cinematographer | Video Production in Japan
Willdesu is the independent production practice of Tokyo-based director and cinematographer Will Greenawalt, also credited as William Greenawalt. Working across commercials, branded films, documentaries, corporate films, and narrative projects, Will collaborates with Japanese and international clients, agencies, and production companies throughout Japan. Projects can range from solo directing or cinematography to full creative development and production support. Will can join an existing production or help shape a project from the initial idea, then build the right local crew around it when needed. The work tends to be cinematic, fluid, and a little playful, with a preference for practical, in-camera approaches and images that feel alive rather than overly manufactured. Will works primarily in English, with bilingual Japanese production support available when required. Description Willdesu provides photography in Tokyo and across Japan, including portrait, editorial, travel, behind-the-scenes, and branded work. My approach is cinematic and natural, with an emphasis on strong composition, available light where appropriate, and images that feel connected to the people and place rather than overly staged. Photography can be booked as a standalone service or alongside film production when a project needs both stills and motion coverage. I work with Japanese and international clients, agencies, production companies, and talent, with bilingual support available when needed.
