OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE For what projects/services did your company hire Reporter Outreach? HARO is a platform that connects journalists with sources for stories they are working on. Getting featured in articles through HARO can help increase our website's backlinks, which can improve our website's search engine rankings and drive more traffic to our site. We found Brandon at Reporter Outreach and he has delivered above and beyond our expectations. SOLUTION How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors? Reporter Outreach had a very simple to navigate website with a simple pricing model. Their reviews on Google were a big plus as everyone had great things to say about Brandon and his team. I also researched his featured clients and decided that Brandon was a good fit for our HARO needs. I made the purchase the day before Thanksgiving and got an email from him telling me they would start right away. He has delivered on all of the promises he has made. Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project. We have used Reporter Outreach for 3 projects. The first project was link insertions, or getting our link on existing blog posts and then referencing back to our deep landing pages. The second two projects were using the HARO database to get our website, www.resumeblaze.com featured in new blog posts and news releases. The process is simple, you set-up an email account for their team to communicate with reporters and the they reach out to the reporters on our behalf. How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions? I work directly with the founder, Brandon. RESULTS & FEEDBACK Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success? We have about 30-links and mentions for our new resume builder that was launched last September. Its pretty impressive we have gotten so much traction so quickly. We are in a crowded market place and the HARO links are instrumental to break into the top 3-pages of SERP results. How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs? The integration with their team is seamless. We communicate exclusively through email and the interaction is pretty hands-off. I am not much of a micromanager, so I have a link to a Google Spreadsheet that keeps me posted on their progress. The proof is on the spreadsheet with links to the content referencing our resume builder: www.resumeblaze.com. What did you find most impressive or unique about this company? He is quick to respond and quick to action. I have used other firms that take weeks to respond and forever to produce sub-par results. Reporter Outreach is quick and delivers maximum impact for the money spent. If you want high-quality backlinks, no other provider can deliver on this quality and scale. Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently? No, they are great!
What was the scope of their involvement? Initially, Reporter Outreach spent a lot of time with us understanding our perspective, vision, mission, and values. Basically, they did a lot of work to understand who we were as a company so that they could represent us and write content for us. Since then, Reporter Outreach has been helping us publish content that conveys our expert perspective on various magazines and publications nationwide. To achieve our media placement, Reporter Outreach uses a panel where reporters and journalists ask for experts’ perspectives and insight on a particular topic. On there, they pitch our content to those reporters and journalists. Whenever they get us quoted in a publication, that quote generates a backlink to Gallus Detox. What is the team composition? I’ve worked with 4–5 teammates from Reporter Outreach. Brandon (Founder) is my main point of contact. How did you come to work with Reporter Outreach? Our CEO found them, but I don’t know how since I wasn’t part of that process. What is the status of this engagement? We started working together in October 2022, and our engagement is ongoing. RESULTS & FEEDBACK What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? Since the fall of 2022, Reporter Outreach has secured around 70 media mentions in important publications. Additionally, we’ve seen an increase in our web traffic and our ranking in Google search results when people search for detox-related topics. Ultimately, Reporter Outreach has achieved what we expected. They’ve improved our visibility and established us as a trusted and reliable source of information. What they do works, so whatever we pay them is worth it — they’re crushing it! How did Reporter Outreach perform from a project management standpoint? Reporter Outreach’s project management is great. We’ve gone through a couple of process iterations to find the one that works best for us, and they’ve bent over backward to fit our needs. For example, they used to send me a lot of things every day to review and provide feedback, but I’m a very busy person, so they adjusted that process to make it work for me. As for communication, we communicate via text messages because it works best for us. In our industry, it’s uncertain when things will happen; everything moves around quickly, and things are time-sensitive. Thus, they usually text me because that’s the easiest way to get a hold of me. Additionally, we’ve used email to communicate and Google Docs to manage the content, where I can make edits and suggestions. What did you find most impressive about them? Reporter Outreach’s ability to write and understand our perspective, point of view, mission, and values is impressive. I’ve worked with 4–5 blog and content writers, and Reporter Outreach is, by far, the best company I’ve worked with. Their ability to write is head and shoulders above their competitors, and it feels like they’ve blended themselves into our point of view. Are there any areas they could improve? I don’t have any constructive feedback for Reporter Outreach. I’ve been more than happy with their service, and I enjoy working with them. Do you have any advice for potential customers? Figure out the best way to communicate with Reporter Outreach and the process you require. Be open and direct about what will work best for you, and set the right expectations.
