Palle St Cyer
Independent brand identity, motion and web studio
Palle St Cyer is an independent brand identity, motion and web design studio in Saskatchewan, Canada, working with clients across Canada and worldwide. Three disciplines, held to one standard. Brand identity: positioning and naming direction, wordmarks, type and colour systems, and the written guidelines that keep them intact. Motion and interactive: broadcast and stream packages, stingers and titles, 3D and look development. Web experiences: design, front-end build, and documentation whoever inherits the site can work from. The studio is one person, and that is the point. There is no account layer and no internal review round, so judgements get made and revised while the work is in progress rather than at the next scheduled meeting. A focused mark and its production files can be done inside a week; a full identity with positioning and guidelines is usually a couple of weeks, and a small site in five working days once the direction is agreed. Work spans esports and gaming, including SoaR Gaming, UKCS and The Weekly Respawn, alongside Saskatchewan businesses, clinics and trades such as SaskTaxSales, Horizons Cardiopulmonary, Community Moto and Bro's Tows, and product brands including JellyLens and Printspo. Every engagement ends with production-ready files in the formats your team and suppliers actually open, organised and named, plus written rules for spacing, sizing, colour and misuse, so a designer you hire three years from now can pick the identity up cold. Engagements typically run from $2,000 to $25,000 CAD and above, depending on how much has to be resolved before anything is developed. No review yetBe the first to write one

Description Everything a brand is made of before it is made into anything. It starts as an argument about what the company is claiming and who it is claiming it against, and ends as production files somebody else can use without asking. A typical engagement covers positioning and naming direction, the primary mark and its variants, type and colour systems, and the written guidelines that keep them intact. How much of that you need varies, and I will say which parts your project actually calls for before either of us spends time on a proposal. The studio is one person, so there is no account layer and no internal review round. Judgements get made and revised while the work is in progress rather than at the next scheduled meeting. A focused mark and its production files can be done inside a week; a full identity is usually a couple of weeks. The standard I hold it to: a designer you hire three years from now should be able to pick the identity up cold and get it right without calling me.Skills in Branding & Positioning (12) Branding & PositioningInternational BrandingCorporate BrandingBrandingBranding MarketingBranding PositioningCompany BrandingCreative BrandingImpact BrandingLogo Branding+2
Learn more about Branding & PositioningDescription Interfaces where an identity has to survive contact with real use. Search tools, configurators and product surfaces where the design has to keep working once there is real data behind it rather than only in a mockup.
Learn more about Ergonomy (UX/UI)Description Motion built out of the identity rather than laid over it, so the brand does not change character the moment it moves. Title sequences and stingers, broadcast and stream packages, lower thirds and score graphics, 3D and look development, and the social cutdowns the same assets have to survive being reduced to. A package is different from a video. One recent weekly show ran from a single asset set, which meant the producer could put next week together without commissioning anything. A single piece is also possible and often right. Final files arrive in the resolutions the people using them need, with alpha channels where something sits over live video, and loops cut to the durations a show actually runs.Skills in Motion Design (10) Motion DesignGraphic DesignMotion Graphics3D Design3D Graphic DesignBranding Graphic DesignLogo Motion DesignMotion Design 3DMotion GraphicMotion Graphic Design
Learn more about Motion DesignDescription Type, colour and layout rules that hold together across every format the brand will actually appear in, plus the written rules for spacing, sizing, colour and misuse that stop a well meaning person stretching it. This is the part that gets applied by people who are not designers, on apparel, on signage and on a phone at an event, so it is built to stay right when I am not there.Skills in Graphic Design (9) Graphic DesignBrand DesignLogo DesignArchitecture Branding3D Graphic DesignBranding Graphic DesignGraphic Design AdvertisingGraphic Design ServicesGraphic Design
Learn more about Graphic DesignDescription The build itself, organised and named so a future developer can read it, with written documentation of how it is put together rather than a folder of files and good luck. Where there is a design system behind it, the rules come too: spacing, type scale, colour roles and component behaviour, so somebody adding a page next year adds one that matches. The test is the same one I hold identity work to. A developer you hire three years from now should be able to pick it up cold. If you would rather not maintain it yourself, a retainer where I make the changes is often cheaper than building an editing surface you would use twice a year.Skills in Web Application (5) App DevelopmentWeb App DesignWeb Application DevelopmentWeb developmentWeb Design
