In 2021, many businesses have had to plan their budgets differently to deal with potential <strong>financial burdens<\/strong> caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sortlist.com\/datahub\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2022\/09\/1-2.png\" alt=\"Pandemic impacts on marketing\" class=\"wp-image-301\" width=\"535\" height=\"301\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.blog.production.sortlist.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2022\/09\/1-2.png 496w, https:\/\/cdn.blog.production.sortlist.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2022\/09\/1-2-300x169.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 535px) 100vw, 535px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>A year into the epidemic, only 23.7% of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in Sortlist\u2019s core market \u2013 Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, France, and Spain \u2013 stated that the budgets for marketing services <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sortlist.com\/blog\/marketing-survey-smbs-budgets-trends-inspiration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">would increase in 2021<\/a>.&nbsp;With 19.7% stating that no final budget had yet been decided, and 7.4% their budgets would remain unchanged, this revealed that 47% of SMBs surveyed were forced to decrease their spending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the Covid-19 pandemic has shaped marketing investments relatively differently in each country (read more about it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sortlist.com\/blog\/marketing-survey-smbs-budgets-trends-inspiration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>), the mode answer of each country was a <strong>decrease in budget<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div id=\"section-6351680b88897\" class=\"gutenberg-block gutenberg--section\" style=\"background-color:rgb(251,250,249);\">\n        <div class=\"overlay\" style=\"background-color:\"><\/div> \n    <div class=\"gutenberg--section__wrapper wrapper\">\n        \n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color has-large-font-size\">How much does a marketing firm cost? As the country with the highest percentage of SMBs <strong>increasing their digital marketing budget <\/strong>in 2021 (30%), they are the country with the most amount of businesses budgeting over 100,000 euros (14%) this year.&nbsp;
